Darksiders 2 has been pushed back from its previous June 29th release date, to August. This is going to allow for “additional time for polish and bug fixing”, publisher THQ has announced.
It was announced today on the official Darksiders 2 forums by THQ.
“This is great news for the team at Vigil,” THQ community manager Mathew Everett explained. “It allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders 2 meet the high quality bar the team is targeting.”
“In game development, more time is always a good thing for quality, and the Vigil team is dedicated to providing the definitive Darksiders experience.”
The delay had nothing to do with the planned Wii U version, according to THQ, or because of the recent lay-offs at Virgil. “It has nothing to do with any other platform releases,” Everett wrote. “The staffing changes at Vigil Games have not impacted the release date.”
“The game content remains unchanged, as do our future DLC plans.”
This seems to be only good news, especially because the summer is usually quite quiet for big release titles and being a big fan of the original Darksiders game, I would much rather THQ delay the game by a few months to have a better game in the long run.
