FUSE – What the hell happened to Overstrike?

Insomniac Games the studio behind Ratchet and Clank as well as the Resistence series have been working with EA on an all new game.

The game is NOW called FUSE, but it was originally called OVERSTRIKE. The game surrounded a team of people who a specialised skill set that they use on missions. It looked  like crazy, mental fun with all these bizarre but colour and creative characters, in fact check out the original trailer here, I think it looked great!

Now this is the FUSE teaser, now its not even the actual trailer yet for this game.

See what they have done? The creative flare, the colour aspects to the game, they are gone!

Overstrike centered around  a team called Overstrike 9 who were lead by Dalton Brooks, a reformed and sarcastic mercenary, who uses an Energy Shield to protect him in combat. Naya Deveraux, a mischievous thief who has the ability to cloak herself completely. Isabelle Sinclair, a young but very clever scientist who appears to be the teams “tech-head” who uses a mass bubble gun. And Jacob Kimble, a detective with a temper., who used an electric crossbow. The idea was that Overstrike 9 tend to ignore protocol, but when a shadowy organization threatens to wipe out humankind, then Overstrike 9 is the only option left.

The Original Team

That was Overstrike and that looked great! But FUSE, FUSE I already have bad feelings about and it hasn’t even aired the trailer yet. For instance the FUSE trailer seems far to militarised, and serious which really starts to put me off the title, I am sick and tired of military shooters! There are several a year, so we don’t need another dead pan entry to an already packed genre. The you see how much of the creative prospects have been removed from the game already by looking at this image of the new Overstrike team.

The Blander Team

Now we still have all the characters, Dalton being the only one what pretty much looks the same, but now they have done the same to all the other characters. Now I know that we have not seen the trailer, but you can already tell that this isn’t going to be the same personalities we saw in the initial trailer, and the only plus side is that from the new teaser trailer from FUSE is that it has Clancy Brown (actor, he voiced Lex Luthor and was Zip in Starship Troopers), having some connection to the game, possibly.

Right now we will have to wait, in fact, just over six days to be precise thanks to the games website for when the first trailer launches for FUSE and hopefully, hopefully it will retain all the creative prospects we saw in the Overstrike trailer, but we will have to see.
