Gamescom 2012: Medal of Honor Warfighter

At Gamescom this year, the show contained several AAA-titles coming out this year as well as next year.

One of these titles was EA’s and Danger Close’s upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

For many the predecessor was a good, fun first person shooter set and based around actual missions done by American soldiers.

The sequel will be no different with the studio working with former and current military operatives to help develop a military shooter that is close to reality possible for a video game.

On show was Medal of Honor Warfighters multiplayer. The multiplayer plays out the recently announced Fire team mode where players work in pairs which means that in the main game you and your buddy can work together and spawn next to one another. This is very similar to Battlefield’s spawning in a team, however the massive difference is found in the aspect that you are rewarded by working as a team. By sticking together you can be rewarded with buddy points, as well as reviving your buddy back into battle if you kill the enemy that killed him.

The new feature works really well with the game that plays much more like a Call of Duty game with its fast dynamic gameplay, but the major difference between Call of Duty and Medal of Honor is that Medal of Honor is actually fantastic. The controls in the game are responsive and the game does in fact feature perks and support and defence abilities you get in-game when you get enough kills.

Lastly at the event, they held a competition for the best fireteam who fought. So Owen and myself thought to ourselves for Queen and Country, to show the Germans what we can do, and we came, we saw and we conquered! The match was bloody close though as their was a team who missed out on the top spot but just a few kills. This rewarded us, limited edition Medal of Honor Warfighter Fireteam shirts, as well as 20 Euros off preordering the title on EA’s Origin service.

Okay I know its in Euros but Owen and I kicked ass, and I thought you guys should know, we did it for you! All of you!

Overall what we played at show was just a snippet at the full game, what we can say is this is going to be one of this years best games, and certainly is a good contender for the Call of Duty crown.

Medal of Honor Warfighter is out this coming October 2012.
