On the last day of Gamescom, there was one last Wii U title I really wanted to try, the upcoming sequel to the excellent Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends
To start with let me say this, IT IS AWESOME! If you have played Origins then you will understand just how great and fun these games are because they are simply insane.
The demo allowed Owen and myself to play together. I was using the Wii U GamePad again and Owen on the other hand tried out the Pro Controller coming out for the title. Owen was controlling Globox and I was using a new character Murfy, a new character that can only be used with the GamePad’s touch screen.
Like the previous game, its fast, fun and ridiculous to the point that we both loved it! With its cartoon animated style the game can get away with being very silly, and the animations are fantastic on the Wii U system. Owen’s Pro Controller worked the exact same way as the Xbox 360 pad playing almost exactly the same style. As for the GamePad users you interact with objects in the background! For instance Murfy can pick enemies up or stun them with a swipe of a finger or by opening doors, cutting ropes or vines.
What is good to note, is that this game plays better on the GamePad than Assassin’s Creed 3, simply because the game is being made for the Wii U as an exclusive and it isn’t a port of the title.
Overall, Rayman Legends is fantastic! In fact its brilliant! There are now two games to buy when the Wii U launches at the end of the year, Zombi U and then this!
Check out Rayman Legends when you can, you won’t regret it.
