The very popular Kingdom Heart series’s 7th installment, Kingdom Hearts 3D (Dream Drop Distance), has a UK and Europe release date of 20th July 2012 and is being released specifically for the 3DS.

You play as two of the protagonists from the previous Kingdom Hearts games, Sora and Rikku. The story has Sora and Rikku taking the Mark of Mastery exam to show that they are both true Keyblade Masters, by being sent to the Sleeping Worlds by Micky Mouse and Yensid.

The game will feature lots of other popular Disney characters such as Goofy, Donald Duck, as well as antagonists Pete and Maleficent. Interestingl, only one Final Fantasy character is set to appear so far, whereas previous Kingdom Hearts titles had loads of them (like Cloud and Squall). This Kingdom Hearts game seems to be taking characters from Square Enix’s other popular RPG, The World Ends With You, with appearances from Neku Sakuraba, Joshua, Shiki, Beat and Rhyme.

As well as new characters, there will also be both old and new worlds, with many based on popular Disney films. Some of the old worlds include Pinocchio, Traverse Town and the World That Never Was. The new worlds will include the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mickey, Donald, Goofy:The Three Musketeers, Fantasia and Tron:Legacy.

There will also be new creatures in Kingdom Hearts 3D: the Dream Eaters. There are two different types of Dream Eaters, the first being the ‘Nightmares’, which will be the main enemies in this game, replacing previous enemies the ‘Nobodies’ and the ‘Heartless’. The other Dream Eaters are the ‘Spirits’, which are good Dream Eaters you can recruit into Rikku and Sora’s party.

So now you know a bit about the latest Kingdom Hearts game and with a release date of 20th July 2012, you can start getting excited about traveling around the different Disney worlds on your 3DS.

Let us know if your looking forward to this and we will keep you posted with any other Kingdom Hearts news.

Hey all, I'm Owen and I love me my video games, especially beat-em-ups and survival horrors. I've been playing video games since I can remember and the first games system I had was the ZX Spectrum, which was awesome. I do also love my movies, but you will find the vast majority of my articles will be about games (what can I say, I prefer games to movies).
