From yesterday’s post on the official Bethesda Blog comes news of the addition of mounted combat to Skyrim. Whilst horses have been available in-game since Oblivion, the ability to fight from horseback is something that has thus far been missing from the Elder Scrolls games. Apparently Patch 1.6 will correct this, and our dragonborn will be spared the hassle of having to dismount before combat. A beta of this feature is available already to anyone playing Skyrim on PC, but a rollout date for the console versions is yet to be announced. Mounted combat is something that I’ve wanted in an Elder Scrolls game since Oblivion, and I’ll be eagerly awaiting this patch. Now if only they would add the ability to summon the horse when it wanders off…
Also out on the internet are hints on what will be in the first DLC for Skyrim. This post on Bethesda’s forums shows evidence that we may soon be encountering Snow Elves in Skyrim – and shooting at them with crossbows.
