OUYA has signed on OnLive to be apart of the upcoming cheap android home console.
But first, many of you are wondering, what the hell is OUYA?
Now many of you, in fact probably every single one of you I hope have probably come across the global phenomenom that is the OUYA, an android based home console that will cost no more than $99!
OUYA has come to life thanks to Julie Uhrman, who has worked in the video games industry for many years!! From the pitch video on Kickstarter she appears to be the kind of gamer that wants to develop for the gamer and not for your dollars! She came up with the idea and created a company and has teamed up with Yves Behar the designer behind the One Laptop per Child and many other projects to bring this console to life!
The idea of the OUYA is to bring independant and major triple-A titles to the big HD TV’s that we all love to play on, despite going with the flow of releasing a portable handheld device they want to establish the home gaming system firmly in its roots, thats where many gamers grew up playing video games and not using a tablet or a smart phone to game on, but also to allow creative indie developers a home to develop for the home systems unhindered, instead of it being released on a mobile device.
Now do you feel refreshed?
Good now lets take a l
ook at the latest OUYA news, such as the news that the cheap android device will in fact be getting the cloud-based gaming service, OnLive will in fact appear on the system. So now, on the $99 system if you have a stable internet connection get a chance to play some of this years biggest games via a 30 minute demo or by paying and playing the games through the OnLive service.
The OnLive UK boss Bruce Grove said about the deal between them and OUYA:
“When OnLive first heard about Ouya, we were excited to see console gaming becoming more available and open. Like Ouya, we came to gaming with a new vision for making top-quality gaming accessible to more people, and we continue to look for ways to expand on that vision.
“Ouya is rethinking the console business, making waves by using standard technology to make gaming for your living room accessible, affordable and more innovative than ever. In OnLive’s case, we pioneered a groundbreaking, cloud-based system that instantly delivers games to any device on demand.”
And finally OUYA released a series of new images for the console and the controller for the upcoming device can be found below. OUYA claims that the console will be the size of a rubiks cube! Now that is impressively tiny for a home system!
Either way, OUYA has taken the game world by storm and has broken several Kickstarter records and has amassed $5,548,050 pledged from 43,405 backers and it still has 11 days till the Kickstarter finishes!
OUYA will release Q1 2013.
