Harmonix, legendary developers of the Music Simulation franchise: Rock Band have announced the next title in the tentative series, Rock Band Blitz!
Rock Band Blitz is due to hit PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade some time this summer, the game will feature new and classic Rock Band songs which you play without the instruments(?). The game has in fact ditched instruments for a new controller-based gameplay. The music will play exactly the same as it did in the previous titles. You also use power-ups to explode gems and chase down blast notes for big bonuses.
The game comes with 20 new tracks however it’s almost entirely compatible with the 3500 song-strong Rock Band library, on top of which, Blitz’s new tracks will be playable over in Rock Band 3.
It’ll be Harmonix’s first Rock Band release since Rock Band 3 launched in October 2010.
Something doesn’t feel right about this… However if you can transfer the songs from Rock Band Blitz to Rock Band3 I will be happy with that, since that is the proper way to play this sort of game! However I won’t knock it too much, at least until I try it.
Rock Band Blitz is due out this Summer on PSN and XBLA.
