Thats according to one of OXM’s sources who has apparently claimed to have seen TimeSplitters 4 in action.
The news comes from OXM’s latest UK issue which reports that a Crytek UK FPS follow-up could indeed be in the works, however it does going on to say that if it is in development, “that’s no guarantee that it’ll be released.” Which would be silly if they did such a thing, make a game but not share it come on guys!
The article goes like this, a “Trusted OXM sources have claimed that they’ve seen TimeSplitters 4 running. That’s no guarantee that it’ll be released – at least one version of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was cancelled without ever being announced – but it’s a promising sign.
It ends by mentioning the possibility that if the title did come to fruition then we would “likely to see the old games appear, too.”
The last TimeSplitters was the third game that came out in 2005 on the Playstation 2, Xbox and GameCube. Since then the title has been on hiatus after the fourth game had started development until Free Radical had to enter administration. They were saved by Crytek who changed the company to Crytek UK and technically own the TimeSplitters IP. Since then concept art has appeared for the game and several rumours about the games development has been seen for many months and still seem to appear every so often. However at the moment Crytek UK are working on the sequel for Homefront (Homefront 2) for THQ.
We will update you about any news of a TimeSplitters sequel.
