Christopher Eccleston Is An Accursed Elf Lord

A very interesting piece of casting news for Thor 2: The Dark World right here; well-known British actor Christopher Eccleston will be playing the leader of the main antagonists in the prequel, a dark elf named Malekith the Accursed. I was disappointed when Mads Mikkleson dropped out but Eccleston is a very good replacement and an actor whose work I have always enjoyed.

Now, he is only ‘in talks’ at present so don’t get your hopes up too high but one would imagine that the Ninth Doctor wouldn’t turn down such a major opportunity for such a big budget film.

The Dark World will no doubt follow the comic storylines pretty closely. Malekith and his band of dark elves form an alliance with Loki and go about obtaining the Casket of Ancient Winters, which features in the first Thor movie, and use it to cast Earth in eternal winter. No doubt the hammer-wielding son of Odin will have a major problem with this.

Thor: The Dark World is set for release November 2013.
