First Dredd Trailer

The first trailer for the Karl Urban starring, Pete Travis directed Dredd is here:

I am not quite sure what to make of this one. On the one hand I like Karl Urban, I like the suit and I like the fact he is not going to take his helmet off, but on the other hand this trailer makes the film look very bland indeed. The story line is sort of like The Raid but without the fantastic fight sequences. The film looks like a 90s action sci-fi film and whether this will prove to be a good thing or not is anybody’s guess.

We are also treated to some shots of what the drug Slo-mo does to its takers, makes everything go in slow motion. Que some necessary, almost 300 like slow motion. Regardless, the use of the Skream remix of La Roux’s In For The Kill is a very bizarre choice. I mean, I like that tune but I would have thought something much more eerie and atmospheric would have been appropriate. Never mind.

Needless to say this trailer has left me skeptical.

The film is released on the 7th September.
