The first G.I. Joe movie, G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra is no classic, far from it in fact. But the sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation has Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Bruce Willis in it so consider me interested.
The trailers don’t showcase it as the Oscar-baiting film it could be but it certainly looks like some solid, action entertainment. But it has been officially postponed for roughly 9 months by Paramount and the reason they have given is that they want to add on a 3D conversion. There has also been confirmation of re-shoots from The Rock himself via Twitter and the reason for this is because they want scenes filmed for 3D as opposed to just adding 3D on in post production. Of course, it could be because the film is rubbish. Though of course that is just speculation.
There are also rumours floating around that another reason they have decided to postpone the film is because they want to go to Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s doorstep and beg for him to reprise his role as Cobra Commander. Off the back of The Dark Knight Rises he’s certainly a more bankable star than he was when the first movie was released and his presence in this one might even persuade some ladies to go and see it.
