While Kick-Ass was critically regarded as the best superhero film since 1997′s Batman & Robin, director Matthew Vaughn doesn’t seem to want to touch Kick-Ass 2‘s director’s chair with a bazooka. Having only signed on with production duties, very little has been heard through the grapevine aside from attaching scriptwriter Jeff Wadlow to direct in his place.
Returnees include Mintz-Plasse as Red Mist, Aaron Johnson as titular Kick-Ass and Chloe Moretz as Hit-Girl, along with Nicholas Cage returning – probably in flashback form, because SPOILER ALERT he gets brutally murdered in Kick-Ass, remember? Yeah. That bit was AWESOME.
Other information includes…
- New cast members include John Leguizamo as one of Red Mist’s bodyguards and Donald Faison as Doctor Gravity.
- Production begins in September in Toronto and London, and the film will definitely be rated-R.
- Though Mintz-Plasse’s Red Mist was set up as the villain at the end of Kick-Ass, a recent reported hinted that we might also see the comics villain Mother Russia. The female character is a towering, ex-KGB officer who serves as Red Mist’s bodyguard.
