Bat For Lashes Is Back With Her New Single, “Laura”

Bat For Lashes, aka Natasha Khan, has debuted her new single, Laura, from her upcoming album, The Haunted Man.

Khan has been making a splash in the news this week not only for her new single but also unveiling her new album’s artwork where she’s carrying a man in the buff. Well, props for Natasha for being, so, um…confident? She looks hot, anyway.

I think the artwork is supposed to symbolise a new sound, yes? As with Laura she has detached herself from her old dream-pop style to something that is minimal,  more ‘stripped down’, if you will. I’m liking this new direction, as Laura is a track that is more poignant than her previous work and even though it’s sad, it’s also a sweet sentiment to a friend, with lyrics like: “You’ll be famous for longer and then, Your name is tattooed on every boy’s skin, Oh, Laura, you’re more than a superstar.”

So, are we enjoying Bat For Lashes’ new style or do we want the old Natasha Khan back?
