Walk Away is the new single from Gabby Young & Other Animals off the acclaimed album, The Band Cried Out For More.

To all of those who have not heard of Gabby Young & Other Animals, they are a band fronted by the Wiltshire native, Gabby Young; a woman with an operatic background and a vibrant image.

Walk Away is an intimate song from the singer, who pours her heart out to her Dad. ‘I woke up one morning at 6am,’ Young says, ‘and this came out, lyrics and all, in 5 minutes. It was something I really needed to say to my Dad.’

The video even stars her Dad (a bit of trivia there!), which upon learning, I aww’d, as having the singer’s father in the centre of the video brings out the desperation and heartache of the song, which is touching if you’re just a innocent viewer. Young says, ‘I wanted to make a real and emotional video. This song is a message for my Dad and I am so pleased that he could be in it. I found the whole experience of shooting and now watching it back very moving.’

Walk Away isn’t another pop ballad, it’s meaningful and tender, yet a million miles from the up-tempo of her last single, In Your Head. Her operatic vocals completely make the track, creating a sound that sets her apart from the other pop acts of today.

Walk Away is out October 1st and The Band Cried Out For More is available now.

Hello there! I'm Cat, I'm 19, and I have a passion for music. I can't decide who are my all-time-favourite artists, but Spotify tells me I like PJ Harvey, Laura Marling, Sea of Bees and Grimes at the moment. I'll take their word for it. Of course, I love to write...and that's why I'm here, ta-da!
